Pin-Sights Color Trend September (1)

And here is what I came up with….

EH Guest Pin

Admittedly, I found this board quite challenging as I don’t usually go for jewel tones in my cards; but this board was so beautiful, I was really inspired to use the blues, and corals, and the ocean scene.

This card was created with stamps and dies from the Essentials by Ellen collection.

I first created the watery background using Ranger’s Distress Inks on Tim Holtz watercolor cardstock and splattering it with water to creat the water marks. Once it was completely dry, I stamped the seaweeds from the Ellen Hutson Otter Ware stamp set using Avery Elle’s Pigment Ink in Sea Glass. Tip….the watercolor paper doesn’t take ink very easily so I stamped the seaweed using my MISTI. I had to stamp the images a few times before I was happy with the coverage.

I white embossed the Mermaid’s Tail (from EH Mermaid’s Tail of course), and sponged in the color using Tim Holtz Distress inks and round applicator. Then I cut out tail using the coordinating Mermaid’s Tail dies. I also cut out the bubbles from the same die set.

The sentiment was created combining the Hello Gorgeous stamp set and the Totally Fabulous die set. This die set created the partially cut “TOTALLY” in one foul swoop! Sooooo genius!

Here is a closer look at the partial cut…

EH Close up

Cool, riiiiight??

I put all the elements together and then mounted the whole panel to my absolute favorite woodgrain cardstock from Ellen Hutson. I can’t get enough of this woodgrain…it is so beautiful and adds just the right texture to any card.

For the finishing touch, I added some Ranger Glossy Accents to the bubbles and the “TOTALLY”. You can’t really see it in these pics, but they are brilliant in real life.

I hope you like my card and that it inspires you to join the fun at the Ellen Hutson Classroom. You get to create something beautiful AND get a chance to win a $50 gift certificate! Win, win, in my book!

Have a wonderful, blessed day!

Cathy

This Little Piggy…loves her coffee!!

Happy Tuesday, everyone! …AND..HAPPY AUGUST!!

This card combines my two loves…coloring stamped images and coffee!

2017-07-25-16-02-59.jpg

Here I combined images from Stampin’Up! This Little Piggy stamp set with the Stampin’Up! Coffee Break DSP. The coordinating Coffee Cups Framelits comes with a die that matches this coffee cup in their DSP so it literally took seconds to cut it out! LOVE!

2017-07-25-17-02-05.jpg

I stamped the piggy in Basic Black Archival ink on Shimmer Whisper White Paper. Then, I watercolored my adorable pig in Flirty Flamingo and fussy cut him, cutting out the flower to make room for the coffee cup. I cut out the coffee cup from the DSP using the  coordinating die and added a little heart cut out from the Owl Punch. The Owl Punch is discontinued, but you can use any heart punch you would like. The circle and green stripped DSP is from the Coffee Break DSP and the Early Espresso scalloped circle was created using the Layering Circles Framelits.

I stamped the sentiment and beans from the Coffee Cafe stamp set onto Crumb Cake cardstock, cut to size. I splattered some black ink onto the sentiment to add a little bit more interest. I stamped the beans image from the same set onto Whisper White and cut it out with the matching die.

Then I put all the elements together on the Crumb Cake cardstock and then adhered everything to my Whisper White  card base. Finally, I added a few detail touches with my trusty Glossy Accents, glossing over the beans and the little heart on the coffee cup. The glossy accent adds just a little “something” and gave the card more dimension. See it shine???……

This little pig looks as happy as I am when I get my first morning coffee!

More Faves…Pick a Pattern Suite

Happy Tuesday, everyone!!! What a beautiful day to share a beautiful suite!!

I don’t know if it’s the colors or the images, or patterns of this suite, but I was immediately drawn to it.

I created two cards to feature here.

Card #1….

Pieces and Patterns balloon

This first card was SOOOOOO fun to make!! The card base color is SU Flirty Flamingo, the yellow panel is from the Birthday Memories DSP, the cloud panel was created using SU embossing paste and the clouds from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks, and the rest of the papers were just from my personal stash of scraps. I love the font on the sentiment from the Pieces and Patterns stamp set that I inked in Flirty Flamingo.  To make it stand out, I adhered it onto a Whisper White starburst I created with our new Starbust punch. The adorable bear was water colored  in Crumb Cake, fussy cut, and adhered on to the card with a dimensional. The balloon was created using the Balloon Bouquet Punch and “attached” to the bear with Whisper White Bakers Twine.

Card #2…

Pieces and Patterns Swap

This card has the same layout. The Crumb Cake base panel and the Flirty Flamingo panel were both created using images from this incredibly cute stamp set.  The thin Crushed  Curry banner was also created by repeat stamping image from the stamp set. The SUPER cute flower is also from the stamp set that I water colored in crushed curry and finished off with a White Perfect Accents embellishment. The bear and flower were then adhered on to vellum to help ground the design. I finished it off with a scattering of crushed curry hearts! SOOOOO CUTE!!

This suite is full of so many fun and colorful images, it really inspired me to get creative.

Thanks for visiting me today. I hope this blog inspires YOU to get creative and spend a little time in your craft room.

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Blessing,

Cathy

More Faves..Birthday Delivery

Happy Tuesday, friends!!

Today I continue featuring one of my favorites from this years Stampin’Up! Annual Catalog……the Birthday Memories Suite. When I saw this suite, it brought me back to my childhood and knew that I HAD to put it on my first order. Who doesn’t remember seeing this illustration style in their GOLDEN BOOKS??? Anyone, anyone???

Birthday Delivery Bundle

Here are a couple of cards I have created using this suite…..

Me likeeeyyyy!!!!

Birthday Delivery Swap

It was easy to create this colorful background on the first card. All I had to do was cut the DSP papers to size and VOILA…..instant background! I created the Happy Birthday birthday panel by repeat stamping the balloon image from the stamp set and check out that gorgeous font of the Happy Birthday! I colored the images water colored the images with SU colored pencils to coordinate with the papers. SOOOO fun!

Birthday Smooshes

The second card on right was created using the “SMOOSHING” technique using Pacific Point Ink. Simply add a couple drops onto a Silicone Craft Sheet. Spritz the drops with water. “Smoosh” a window sheet onto the ink and then use the window sheet to spread or “smoosh” the ink onto your cardstock. Repeat the process until you get the effect your heart desires. You can use this technique with one color, or multiple colors. Here are some that I created to keep in my stash.

Ink smooshing

The rest of the card was so simple to put together. The bear image was fussy cut from the DSP paper in all it’s glorious cuteness, and the sentiment was white embossed from black cardstock.

I hope you try some of this ink smooshing and keep a stack on hand for your future fun projects.

That’s all for me today. Thanks for visiting my blog and have a wonderful day!!

My Faves Part 1

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July!

Today I will unveil some projects I made with one of my favorite stamp sets from our new Stampin’Up catalog.  Today’s project uses items from the Coffee Break Suite! Check out the product page from our catalog….

Here is just one of the cards I created with this versatile suite!

Coffee Cafe Swap

As you can see, the papers in this DSP stack is beautiful and fun and makes it SOOO EASY to create pretty cards! For this card, I repeat stamped the coffee bean stamp on crumb cake to create the card base. I created the coffee rings with the bottom of a plastic cup inked with actual coffee!! EEEEEPPP!

For the iced coffee, I painted the cup with actual coffee and once it was dry, I stamped the ice onto it with SU Craft White ink.  The lid was created by white embossing the lid stamp on vellum. Put it all together and you have some iced coffee good enough for a pick me up on any hot day of the summer!

I have created so many different cards with this versatile stamp set, so stay tuned for more goodness.

Thank you for visiting my blog today. Until next time, have a GREAT DAY!

Blessings,

Cathy

This very SASSY green color is not in the kit, but it is COMING UP in our new Catalog coming out in May. It’s called LEMON LIME TWIST, and I am obsessed with this color. You KNOW that I will be posting lots of projects with using this bright, happy color.

All the elements I used on this card is from this month’s Paper Pumpkin Kit except for the card base, the little Lemon Lime Twist flower center, and the thin gold foil banner. The center was punched out using the Blossom Builder Punch.

Here is a close-up…
