Holiday Photo Card Blog Hop!!!

blop-hop-header

WOW!!  It is such an honor to be a part of this blog hop today!  LiveLoveCards has inspired me from the very beginning of  my card crafting journey just three years ago, so I cannot tell you what a special moment this is for me. Thanks Darlene for all your support and encouragement (enter hug here)!

PLUS, I have the opportunity to give away some amazing prizes which I will tell you more about at the end of my post. So that makes it a DOUBLE honor for me!

When I heard this was a “Holiday PhotoCard” hop, I had to do a little dance because it involves two of my most favorite things….Christmas and family photos.  I love love love getting those pictures of my family and friends every year so I just had to create two designs!  I decided to make my cards very  clean and simple so that I can mass produce them easily. They are also regular A2 size cards so I didn’t have to worry about finding special envelopes for them.

I created the eye-popping red card bases with my Misti, using the Diagonal Stripes background stamp from Simon Says Stamp. It was so easy, that of course I had to make a stack of these versatile background stripes for future use.  Candy cane, anyone??  lol

So now that’s done, lets start with my  Christmas Blessings Card….

llc5

I cut the red striped card panel to a  regular A2 size, 4 1/4″ by 5 1/2″.  I then made the top panel using a stripe stencil and Olive Green Ink applied with a roller.  I cut that green stripe panel using Simon Says Stamp’s Stitched Rectangle dies. The largest size die in that set cuts your panel to jsut the perfect size to show off that red stripe!!

Then I cut my photo with Simon Says Stamp’s Stitched Square dies.  I wanted an inset look to my card so I used that same square die and cut the green striped panel right where my card will go. Using the same square die will assure that my picture fits perfectly into that spot.. It doesn’t show too well in my pics here, but that  created a cool, double stitched look for my card. After that I stamped my sentiment from  Stampin’ Up’s Christmas Pines set.  I created our family name using Lawn Fawn’s Milo’s Alphabet.

Now to my Holly Jolly Christmas photo card…

Seriously….SOOOOOO simple!  I used the same technique as my first card, using SSS stitched rectangle and square dies to cut my white panel and my photo.  I stamped the sentiment from Ellen Hutson’s Holly Jolly stamp set in Momento Black Tuxedo ink and the stars from the same set in Gold Delicata Ink.  I hand drew the star above the sentiment and the heart and our name below the sentiment with Sakura Pigma Micron black pen.  Then I adhered it all to another one of my awesome red stripe background and voila….done!

  1. What a nice family you have, Catherine! I like what everyone is wearing and how nice everyone looks. I like how you used the striped paper too. It reminds me so much of candy canes. Those were always my nephews favorite things to eat at Christmas. Both cards are so pretty! Whoever gets them is going to love them as much as I do!

  4. I like both versions of your card. Great family photo. Did you bribe the kids? It’s hard to get older children to allow picture taking sometimes.

  5. I liked how you used the stripped background stamps for the background of the card. The Misti makes it easy. Lovely that you even stamped your holiday sentiments. Thanks for sharing.

  6. Super cards! Great idea to stamp your striped background paper. It saves moola over buying printed scrapbook paper. I like the way you inset your photo.
